Because of the incredible response to our virtual typer meetups, we will be extended these at least through the end of 2020!
During these hard times many of us are missing the social interaction and connection. To offset this isolation and to reconnect with other typers the ICI invites you to recurring Zoom meetups every Monday. We hope that many of you will take advantage of this and join in for a lively chat.
Mondays will alternate between a general hangout meetup and a virtual book club discussion:
General hangout meetings: September 7, September 21, October 5, October 19, November 2, November 16, November 30, December 14, December 28.
Book club meetings: August 31, September 14, September 28, October 12, October 26, November 9, November 23, December 7, December 21.
Please RSVP to be sent the Zoom invitation/link.
2-Day Introductory Workshop in Supporting Communication
November 9 and 10, 2020
10 a.m.-1 p.m. EST
Typing to Communicate is one method used in accessing augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) equipment. This two-day workshop provides the opportunity to learn the techniques necessary to be a facilitator within the context of the principles common to all communication support approaches. We will discuss the “why” and “how” of typing to communicate, along with strategies for integration in school and community settings. ICI staff will work with participants to establish a plan for continued support after the zoom training.
Fees: $100 per person; group rates available for three or more people upon request. Payment can be done by mailing a check to the ICI or paying by credit card online. Typers can attend the workshop along with their facilitator free of charge; this would be helpful for hands on practice sessions.
The Introductory Workshop is currently full. If you are interested in future workshops and events from the ICI, please join our email list.
